The Last Laugh EP tells the story of the soul’s journey in the afterlife. It is a reminder that regardless of what battles you have faced and/or are currently facing, there is a beautiful event to look forward to; how in the end human-kind will have the last laugh. It is about the journey that takes place after the soul leaves this current plane and the process it experiences before reaching the final destination- Zion, or Heaven in this sense.
To go a bit further into detail…
Track 1- Voyage
Voyage was the first title that came to me one night when I was messing around making beats. I kept thinking to myself “7 minutes in heaven, 7 minutes to heaven” and convinced myself that “Voyage” had to play for 7min. I am not to sure about keeping it the same, this one still needs a lot of work. What it truly needs is something I can’t give to it- a dude on a saxophone that’s got the real deep blues to really bring this one to life. Voyage is the first track as it is meant to represent the soul’s celebration of departure from its human life/form. It sounds silly, but when I listen to this one I can’t help but envision a 70s dude, full afro, button down silk shirt, just dancing in an elevator going one-way up, only stopping to pick up more recently departed passengers, all whom at first are put-off by afro dude smiling and dancing to this song, only to find themselves grooving along with him as they all ascend to the next phase of their soul journey. It’s basically saying “You’ve reached the end of your earthly life, now your true life begins”…something along those lines..
Track 2- Cosmic View
Perhaps my favorite one so far. This is the only one that I think I will leave as is. Here it is!
Cosmic View comes after the proverbial elevator leaves you off into the cosmos, where angelic beings sing in celebration to your soul’s journey. I envision the soul being able to see colors they weren’t able to see in their human life/form, sounds, scents, it’s all brand new as the soul explores the cosmic view. Nothing more to say, take a listen and judge for yourself. Though I do recommend some decent headphones, I tried listening to this one on my airpods and it made it sound muddled and kind of took away from the beat in my opinion. So far, my favourite place to listen to this one is in the car, it’s a sweet vibe and always makes me smile for some reason. I also tried to add “angelic hums” underlayers, I really hope the listener can pick up on those. It’s just dancing with God’s angels in good harmony!
Track 3- Renacimiento/Rebirth
I’m not sure why the title to this track came to me in spanish, I’ve considered changing it to english because the rest of the track names are in english..but maybe I’ll keep it as is. In this track, the soul is being cleansed of all the pain, hurt, and sadness that is experienced as a human-being. It is a mellow track compared to the two that come before it. I had in mind how that could possibly feel, both beautiful and relieving to be completely healed. This one needs a lot of work still.
Track 4- Lucidstream
This one has been a bit difficult, I’ve made a couple of demos of it, but I’ve yet to find the sound that really captures what I wanted “Lucidstream” to be and feel like. After the soul’s rebirth (or more like restoration, I should say) they enter the “Lucidstream”, which is exactly what it sounds like. It is yet another step of the soul’s cleansing process, it is where the soul is made aware of all that has occurred in human history and why it happened as it did. I kind of wanted Lucidstream to carry the feeling I had in a very vivid dream I had many years ago, in which I stood in front of my old workplace and I saw the sky open up, exposing the cosmos. I saw these shooting stars and I saw the shooting stars become angelic beings. Not angelic like the cherub cute baby style, but these massive giant men that will land on the earth with a loud boom, and take off running the opposite direction of me. I won’t get too deep into that, but I remember how I felt in the dream; kind of like I had stumbled upon something I didn’t know about but had been made a part of. In the end of the dream, I was chasing one of the angels that had landed on this gigantic horse, and somehow I became aware of the spiritual war and why it was taking place. From one moment to the next, I went from being confused about what I was witnessing, to being full blown aware and even partaking in it. Now that I’ve typed this out I’m realizing that I may be overthinking this track a bit, which is probably why I haven’t finished it yet.
Track 5- New Glow
Ahh! Okay, the wildest coincidence happened when working on this one. I already had the name for the track but had yet to find the right sound to mix. I somehow found this VOX pack that says “New glow, feel the glow in my soul” or interchangeably “Feel the glow, new glow in my soul” Listen, I am well aware that the VOX may not be saying that at all, but it felt all too right and I just had to use it for this track. New glow is just that, after exiting the Lucidstream, the soul gets a New Glow! This is the most house-sounding I think, Voyage is in a bit of a competition for the most house track, but this one definitely takes the cake. At first I thought this one was good enough to keep as-is kind of like “Cosmic View”, but unfortunately I listened to it too much and it definitely needs a lot of work, if not a whole new sound.
Track 6- Zion
At last, we reach eternity. I am the most excited for this one, mostly because I am using a VOX I took from an old school videogame. It’s also a nod to Elvis Creep of the Bondage Fairies, someone who still inspires me 15+ years after discovering his music. I don’t really have much to say since I haven’t done much for this track.
That’s about it!
So, tell me, WHAT IS YOUR LAST LAUGH MOMENT??
I’ve still got a lot to experience, but so far my last laugh moment in my human life is that despite all the trauma, abuse, slander, evil-eye, ill-wishes, etc. I was still able to rise and I continue to rise, to learn, to grow. No matter how many times my heart was targeted, it never changed me into a worse version of myself and I was able to integrate these life lessons as to not repeat them. I can truly say, I KNOW BETTER NOW! Even though I have faced horrors beyond comprehension, I still remained strong and laser focused on the path God set me on, every day I draw nearer, every day I accomplish things for the army of Heaven, and that is something that cannot be undone or taken from me. My last laugh is never having a childhood, yet growing up to become a mother myself and be able to give a real childhood to a beautiful innocent soul, to be their rock when I myself didn’t have that. And the BIGGEST Last Laugh for me, is what was meant to live on through my lineage ended with me, I am raising a new generation that is vastly different from the one I was born into.
To add to that, I know I am not alone in being a generational-curse breaker, and it genuinely makes me smile every time I think about it. It fills my heart up with so much joy. I guess that’s also a last laugh moment, to have inner peace, the happiness, and the freedom to create from one’s heart content.
I am not a musician by any means, I consider myself more of a Connoisseur of the Sound, and this EP is not really meant to be taken too seriously. When it comes to music production I am very much still in pre-k, barely learning my colors, numbers, and alphabet. I wanted to create this EP because of the way the idea came to me, it happened so quickly that I felt like I had to share the message through this music. The Last Laugh EP is very much my camp macaroni-art in sound form. But I wanted to have fun, and I want all who listen to have fun and enjoy the reminder that all that we see now, is not all that there is. There is a grander power, an amazing celestial father.
If you have ever been wronged, dragged through the dirt, lost it all, etc. just rest assured that at some point in the timeline, you will no longer be in this earth or of this earth, and this life does go by a lot quicker than we realize. Your pain is not forever, the injustices will be made right. Just remain focused on your walk with the divine God, and smile everyday because one day, those of us who remained true will have the last laugh! I wish I could stay and share more about this topic, but I’ve got to run. Thank you if you read all this way, keep your head high during the trials and tribulations, as painful as those may be they are a part of the journey, but this journey will end, and your soul will continue on to the next. Stay true to your heart, do not let this world take that from you.
